Jamiis' Bio

I started dance when i was 2 and teaching as an assistant at the age of 13. for years i danced ballet tap and modern, until i found the world of STREET DANCE.

After getting an exercise to music qualification i started teaching at a Council Estate Youth Club Commercial Choreography to kids from struggeling families.

This was when i discovered the NIGHT LIFE DANCE SCENE. And so started my journey of learning to feel comfortable dancing in all situtations.

I started my pole journey when i was 20.

After a very sad ending to a long relationship i found myself draw to pole lessons as a therapy to deal with my loss. Soon after i decided to leave and travel round the world alone, facing many fears I had come to have.

6 months into my travels, i found myself jobless and moneyless due to an unexcepted trip down south with friends that fisited from back home.

And there started my journey into the world of pole performing.

My first inspiration was Arianna Star, a highly paid pole championship competitor. After becoming good friends and learning some of the tricks of the trade, i danced my way around NZ and OZ training with speicalist Australian Pole Acadamys.

Due to illness i returned back to the UK determined to bring my love of pole home and share it with my friends.

My first pole school was at BONKERS in Wimborne and was flurishing fast, but due to a car crash and an injury to my wrists, i decided to close and focus on other aspects of dance.

For a year I trained hard everynight of the week 9pm – 6am, Freestyling in Dance Battles across Bournemouth Town, collecting dancers as i trained through the night.

Forming the legendary DE:FUSION CREW. Around this time i reopened the pole school at Blackwell academy, enjoying the focus of the school being commercial chorography crossed with pole tricking to RNB AND URBAN MUSIC, until unfortunallty i was injured again from repetative strain from tightening and loosening the poles every week, taking them up and down. So i closed the school and soon after found out i was pregnant, ending that part of my dancing and pole life.

After a few years i decided it was time to retrain and became a YOGA teacher and opened Urban Shanti Yoga School, shortly followed by Urban Polatics which is a combination of Pole and Yoga.

For a few years i worked home and local studios, teaching also at the BU University, until i finally outgrew my spaces and decided it was time to  move to a regualar locations.AND SO …….. Here it is…. URBAN SHANTI COMMUNITY STUDIO BOSCOMBEHome to Urban Polatics, with 3 brand new stage poles with slick rotation and a great studio with sound that bounces off the walls with a changing ambient lighting to really bring the excitment to the class.

I hope you love your pole journey as much as i have loved mine.
